This outdoor sign at Maui Ocean Center gives "A Sense of Place" as the viewer faces the scenery of Ma‘alaea Harbor and beyond. The hand drawn and digital illustration made from panoramic photos required all the major features to be visible beyond the harbor. The illustration was stylized to keep it as simple as possible while showing all of the detail of the immediate harbor surroundings. In addition, a map of Maui shows the location of Ma‘alaea Harbor while USGS birds' eye aerial shots give another perspective of the area.
