Maui Ocean Center wanted to design four signs for a new interpretive display all about sea shells and mollusks. Three of the signs would reveal live tanks or display actual shells, while one would just display information. For the central and largest sign, an illustration was needed to show an ocean ledge displaying the depths where each mollusk is found. Later, bubbles were attached to the sign's illustration with actual shells underneath.
