Michelle Anderson was not a name everyone in the Maui community knew, so her advertisement campaign for the Maui County Council in the 2004 election concentrated on associating her with well known community leaders. One ad had her positioned in Makena with the popular Wayne Nashiki who was retiring from the South Maui seat she was running for. Another ad positioned her with other important endorsers of her candidacy. For both ads, red was used to catch the eye when run in color, and clean typesetting was all that was needed to make the strong images speak.
